Job summary

AMG Specialty Hospital-Albuquerque seeks a Full Time Telemetry Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary for day shifts. The role includes interpreting cardiac rhythm strips every 4 hours, reporting rhythm changes to the primary nurse, and documenting findings for oncoming staff.

The candidate should have a current BLS certification, complete Basic EKG Monitoring, and knowledge of monitoring equipment. Strong English communication and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
• Current BLS certification.
• Successful completion of Basic EKG Monitoring Course.
• Previous experience in rhythm interpretation; previous experience as Telemetry Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of monitoring equipment.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Additional languages are desirable.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Interpret cardiac rhythm strips every 4 hours including rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS, QT, signature and title; report changes to Primary Care Nurse and document on the patient record.
• Operate monitor system and related speaker/phone systems; post rhythm changes and provide complete/accurate reports to oncoming technicians.
• Keep patient charts updated with labeled rhythm strips; maintain supplies and pre-set par limits; track monitored patients at all times.
• Prepare and compile records in the Medical Surgical Unit; initiate directions from physician and nursing staff; participate in performance improvement activities.
• Meet regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures; perform other duties as needed by supervisor.
• Shift Differentials are paid for Weekend Shifts.
