Job summary

CalvertHealth Medical Center is seeking a Unit Secretary for the Telemetry Med Surg unit, a full-time day-shift role that supports front-desk operations and patient flow. Responsibilities include answering phones, relaying messages, and maintaining patient records and charts.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience, plus successful completion of Unit Secretary Orientation and strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
• Maintains unit-specific competencies and mandatory training.
• Successful completion of Unit Secretary Orientation.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones, relays/dispatches messages to other staff and/or departments as appropriate.
• Manages the central desk area of the nursing unit – directs staff, physicians and customers as needed.
• Assists in answering the patient call system and contacts the appropriate staff person.
• Orders supplies under the direction of the unit director.
• Maintains patient records, including preparing and compiling records, filing and copying as needed. Prepares admission charts and breaks down discharge charts in accordance with Medical Record protocol.
