Responsibilities

• Support MDA Targets and Countermeasures program office in developing ballistic missile target vehicles.
• Assist TC System Engineering in requirements development, modeling, simulation, testing, and reporting.
• Apply knowledge of missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) to support data product development.
• Focus on vehicle telemetry and mission analysis within engineering activities.
• Configure and operate telemetry data acquisition equipment during test events.
• Perform vehicle telemetry data decommutation, reduction, and conversion tasks.
• Generate target vehicle visualizations, situational displays, and briefings/reports.
• Support mission planning, analysis, and reporting activities.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop analysis tools.

Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Telemetry Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office in developing ballistic missile target vehicles.

• Support the TC System Engineering team in all aspects of target design, analysis, and test, including requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis and reporting.

• Utilize knowledge, skills, and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.

• Technical focus areas include vehicle telemetry and mission analysis

• Configure and operate telemetry data acquisition equipment during test events

• Perform vehicle telemetry data decommutation, reduction, conversions, etc.

• Generate target vehicle visualizations, situational awareness displays, and reports/briefings

• Support mission planning, analysis, and reporting activities

• Collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in multiple technical areas to develop analysis and engineering tools

• Utilize knowledge, skills, and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.

• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Java, C#, and other programming languages.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.

• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.

• Experience supporting MDA and/or DoD test events.

• Experience with telemetry systems and data processing.

• Experience in any or all of the following disciplines: Design, CAD, Trajectory, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Signatures, Optical Signatures.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks.

• Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
