Job summary

Ochsner Health in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient safety and basic care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will observe patients, communicate changes to the nursing staff, and help maintain a clean, safe patient care environment.

The role requires a CNA certification and BLS; CPI within 30 days. Preferred High School diploma and telemetry/hospital experience. Flexible schedule including 24/7 availability, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• CNA certification required.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• CPI certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Hospital telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and explaining services.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
