Hitachi Rail is seeking a Telecoms Technical Project Manager to lead a fast-paced telecoms program based in Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves steering cross-functional teams, overseeing engineering activities, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in telecoms project management, strong leadership, and knowledge of radio frequency and fiber optics. Travel and a robust Benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage telecoms work package with oversight for scope, budget, and timeline.
• Develop comprehensive project plans from development to implementation.
• Monitor progress with detailed milestone and deliverable reports.
• Assign daily tasks and supervise technical staff toward milestones.
• Conduct regular technical meetings to resolve project questions.
• Define deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff.
• Research hardware/software options and cost/benefit analysis.
• Oversee installation, update and maintenance of production technologies.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Telecoms Technical Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities

• Manage Telecoms work package with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline.
• Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
• Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables for senior management
• Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all subordinates are actively working toward established milestones
• Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
• Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives
• Research and evaluate hardware and software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis
• Oversee installation Update and maintain all production technologies ensuring proper maintenance and installation

Required Skills & Experience

• Professional Project Management Certification from accredited intuition preferred
• Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods
• Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
• Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising teams
• Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
• Managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
• Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, terminology and trends in communications engineering including the fields of radio frequency allocations, electromagnetic wave propagation, and radio frequency field strength measurements and tolerances.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, computers, digital communications processors, servers, programming, applications, software, and hardware related to radio communications.
• Knowledge of Complex Networks design, both wired and wireless

Desired Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of telecoms systems for the railway industry
• From 2+ years of Railway System Engineering expertise

Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering or Information Technology
