Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Telecommunications Technician for a PT/on-call position supporting Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC East) at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing voice and data telecom systems and related cabling.

Applicants must have Avaya CM-7 experience, PBX skills, and relevant certifications; security clearance at Confidential level is required. Physical demands apply.

Qualifications

• Five years of PBX/PABX installation/maintenance within the last seven years.
• Certification in Avaya Communication Manager 6.X or higher.
• Two years of structured Cat5 cabling experience for telecom wiring.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair voice/ non-voice systems including PBX/Avaya components.
• Run and terminate cables to telephone sets and key equipment; manage wiring for non-voice circuits.
• Maintain and repair related equipment such as intercom, PA, alarms, and teletype systems.

Overview

Telecommunications Technician (FRCE-2026-26034):

Bowhead seeks to network with a Telecommunications Technician for an upcoming proposal effort in supportof Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC East), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, Havelock, North Carolina.

This is a PT/ Oncall position.

Responsibilities

Job duties to include but are not limited to:

• Installs, removes, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs voice and/or non-voice communications systems including intercom and public address systems; alarm systems; teletype equipment; and electronic and electromechanical telephone key systems/PBAXs; terminal and communications equipment, including line drivers.
• Runs cables, key cables, or house wire to all telephone sets, terminal connectors, lugs, pins, or screws, associated with key telephone equipment and/or terminating equipment for non-voice circuits.

Qualifications

• Required to have documented experience with Avaya Aura CM-7 with G-450 servers, analog and digital telephone installation and repair, fax machine installation and repair, coax cable installation and repair, and fiber optic cable and copper cable installation and repair.
• Five years of experience installing, operating or maintaining Private Branch Exchange (PBX)/Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) telephone systems (this experience shall have been obtained within the last seven years); and,
• Certification in Avaya Communication Managers 6.X and above; or,
• Seven years of experience installing, operating or maintaining PBX/PABX telephone systems (this experience shall have been obtained within the last 10 years).
• Five years of experience installing, maintaining and repairing customer premise telephone station equipment and related ancillary equipment in a PBX and Avaya CM-6.x and above; and,
• Two years of experience installing and testing structured Category 5 cable (Cat 5) (or greater) telecommunications cabling and wiring systems for both riser and horizontal station wiring requirements.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Confidential level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Confidential clearance at this location.
