Company Overview




By Light is hiring a Telecommunications Systems Integration Engineer to join our team. This position supports the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE) as part of a team assisting with security accreditation, risk mitigation and reporting in support of DoD policy, directives, instructions and guidance. Support will be provided Monday-Friday, 8 hours, between the core hours of 0630-1730.






Responsibilities




    Provide operations and integration support for a multi-vendor telecommunications infrastructure that includes routers and switches, Cisco Call Managers, Riverbed network accelerators, multiple vendor firewalls, multiple vendor servers, satellite equipment, cellular devices, and tactical radios.
  • Provide operational support for designing, installing, operating and maintaining e LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures. Engineering support includes data, voice, satellite, and video network technology development, integration, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Configures, installs, remotely manages, and maintains routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual local area networks (VLANs) multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), IP multicast and quality of service (QoS).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for JCSE's network elements and systems.
  • Develop technology upgrade recommendations and for network components, processes and operating procedures.
  • Analyze information assurance-related technical problems and provide engineering support in solving these problems.
  • Provide recommendations and develop solutions for identified performance problems with JCSE's tactical telecommunication systems.
  • Conduct technical research for data, transmission, voice, RF, and video systems modernization plans.
  • Provide test plans, white papers, and technical documentation appropriate for presentation to JCSE senior leaders.
  • Analyze user requirements for data, transmission, voice, and video telecommunications services delivered by JCSE's tactical systems.
  • Develop tactical telecommunication system designs focused on operating in tactical environments to include air, land, and sea.
  • Ensure compliance of JCSE's communication systems with DoD guidance, regulations, and instructions.
  • Perform vulnerability and risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
  • Provide technical support to the IA Cell to develop and maintain JCSE IA processes and procedures regarding JCSE's computer network defense in-depth protection for the JCSE enterprise.
  • Perform and support updates to and maintenance of the POA&Ms for the JCSE Enterprise.
  • Support development of RMF Security Plans and assist in the creation and updating of RMF accreditation packages.
  • Document changes to systems and all required checklists for use within the configuration baseline.
  • Implement and integrate IA defense postures to JCSE's communications systems and architectures when coordinated or immediately upon being directed to secure reported cyber threats from the appropriate level of authority.
  • Support unique requirements and challenges of providing services in low bandwidth and austere environments.
