Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an ICT Designer 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah to join our team. In this full-time role, you’ll collaborate with engineering groups and clients to design telecommunications and physical security systems, producing construction documents and applying advanced low-voltage technologies.

You’ll help ensure projects meet requirements and stay on schedule. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office,

Responsibilities

• Lead production of construction documents in REVIT, AutoCAD, and other production tools under supervision.
• Evaluate and apply state-of-the-art low voltage technology systems, techniques, procedures, designs and modifications.
• Understand technology infrastructure systems, including communications structured cabling, outside plant systems and fiber‑optic systems.
• Understand medical technology systems design such as nurse call, patient EETV, physiological monitoring, EMS radio and distributed antenna systems.
• Assist in preparation construction documents and specifications.
• Take on contract administration responsibilities requiring field inspections and conflict resolution.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Overview

Due to continued growth, HDR has immediate openings for ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Designer 1 to join our team. In this dynamic role, you’ll forge powerful relationships with both internal teams and external clients, especially in the cutting‑edge field of Telecommunications and Physical Security, while leading engineering efforts to deliver innovative solutions. You’ll drive project success by solving complex technical challenges, ensuring top-quality results, and guiding your team to exceed customer expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

Imagine a day when you’re at the forefront of collaboration, working with engineering teams and clients to deliver cutting‑edge solutions in Telecommunications and Physical Security. You will lead technical discussions, resolve challenges, and ensure designs meet all requirements. Your guidance keeps projects on track while you research improvements, propose innovations, and provide key updates to the team - making a real impact and strengthening vital relationships every step of the way.

In the role of ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Designer 1, we’ll count on you to:

• Work under the direction of senior designers to produce construction documents in REVIT, AutoCAD, and other production tools.
• Evaluate and apply state-of-the-art low voltage technology systems, techniques, procedures, designs and modifications
• Understand technology infrastructure systems, including communications structured cabling, outside plant systems and fiber‑optic systems
• Understand medical technology systems design such as nurse call, patient EETV, physiological monitoring, EMS radio and distributed antenna systems

Preferred Qualifications

• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) certification is helpful
• Familiarity with Microsoft suite of programs.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam REVU
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to work in a high‑velocity environment managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality.
• Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, and keep a daily schedule of activities.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings.
• Strong desire for continuous learning.
• Selected applicant may be subject to periodic government background checks when required by client.
• Strong preference given to local candidates
