Slicfiber is looking for a motivated Entry-Level Telecommunications Lineman to join our team in Upstate New York. You will assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks.

This role provides on-the-job training, focusing on safety and skill development in a dynamic outdoor setting. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work in all weather conditions are essential. Starting salary ranges from $22.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience.

Description

SLICFiber is seeking a motivated and dependable Entry-Level Telecommunications Lineman to join our growing team in Upstate New York. This position plays a critical role in the construction, installation, and maintenance of SLICFiber’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, eager to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in the telecommunications and fiber optics industry.

This is an entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of aerial and underground fiber optic facilities for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks
• Perform work on utility poles, strand, and related hardware under the direction of experienced linemen
• Assist with fiber placement, lashing, splicing preparation, and basic testing
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment used in fiber installation
• Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures at all times
• Read and interpret basic construction prints, maps, and work orders
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain throughout Upstate New York
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and working condition
• Interact professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers when required
• Participate in training programs to develop fiber, safety, and lineman skills
• Some overtime, weekend, or Holiday work may be required, as well as “on Call”.

Requirements

• Ability to work at heights and climb poles while wearing appropriate safety equipment
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety

Salary Description

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour based on experience
