Job Overview
A Telecom Foreman is responsible for the installation of communications cabling and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and standards. As a Foreman you should have experience installing equipment which involves using hand tools, power tools, an understanding of telecom systems, blueprints and knowledge of codes and standards. Telecom Foremen are full‑time employees with company benefits.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge and safe use of hand tools and various power tools
- Wearing of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Following safety policies and procedures
- Actively participating in daily safety and work briefings
- Installing various types of low‑voltage cable
- Managing small to large‑sized projects of five or more persons at one or more locations
- Conferring with senior management and supervisory personnel to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
- Scheduling the project in logical steps to budget enough time required to meet deadlines
- Interpreting and explaining plans/specifications to field workers
- Knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards for proper install and termination procedures
- Terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling (fiber optics, Cat 5, Cat 6)
- Installing various pathways and cable tray
- Installing various telecommunications devices
- Installing pre‑fabricated components and assemblies
- Installing telecommunications grounding systems
- Training and supervising technicians/apprentices in a team environment to facilitate installing telecommunication systems while following drawings and specifications
- Performing quality assurance checks of the team’s work ensuring cable install is performed within all applicable requirements
- Maintaining a clean work area and participating in job‑site clean‑up
- Using the full tool set based on the ITS Telecom tool list
- Securing company tools and materials daily
- Identifying all tools and equipment required to support each crew (gang‑box assignments, tool inspection, and tracking tools by signing sheet in/out)
- Ensuring each crew activity has information packages (contract drawings, shop drawings, panel schedules, cut sheets, etc.)
- Submitting daily hour/unit reports for their crews using the standard time sheet

Qualifications
- 8+ years prior experience in commercial communications industry
- High school diploma or GED is required
- BICSI technician
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Successfully pass a background check and drug test
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site
- Consistently report to work on time, work well with others to accomplish a common goal and maintain a safe work environment
- Wear long pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by six (6) inches; these are not provided by the company
- Provide basic tools from the provided tool list prior to the first day of employment
Desired Skills
- BICSI technician certification is desirable; willing to obtain the certification
- Manufacturer certifications and/or fiber certification
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
Pay Range
USD $35.00 – USD $40.00 per hour.
