Position

Telecommunications Foreman is responsible for the installation of communications cabling and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and standards. The Foreman should have hands‑on experience installing equipment using hand tools and power tools, an understanding of telecom systems, blueprints, and knowledge of codes and standards. This is a full‑time role with company benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Safe use of hand tools and various power tools
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Following Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Actively participating in daily safety and work briefings
  • Installing various types of Low Voltage Cable
  • Managing small to large projects with 5 or more persons at one or more locations
  • Coordinating with senior management and supervisory personnel to resolve work procedure, complaint, and construction issues
  • Scheduling projects in logical steps to budget time needed to meet deadlines
  • Interpreting and explaining plans/specifications to field workers
  • Knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards for proper install and termination procedures
  • Terminating, testing, and troubleshooting Low Voltage Cabling (Fiber Optics, Cat 5, Cat 6)
  • Installing various pathways and cable trays
  • Installing various telecommunications devices
  • Installing prefabricated components and assemblies
  • Installing telecommunications grounding systems
  • Training and supervising technicians/apprentices in a team environment to facilitate installation while following drawings and specifications
  • Performing quality assurance checks of the team’s work to ensure cable install meets all applicable requirements
  • Maintaining a clean work area and participating in job site cleanup
  • Having a full tool set based on the ITS Telecom tool list
  • Securing company tools and materials daily
  • Identifying all tools and equipment required to support each crew (gang box assignments, tool inspection, and tracking tools by signing sheet in/out)
  • Ensuring each crew activity has appropriate information packages (contract drawings, shop drawings, panel schedules, cut sheets, etc.)
  • Submitting daily hour/unit reports for crews on an established form (Standard Time Sheet)
Qualifications
  • 8+ years prior experience in the commercial communications industry
  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • BICSI Technician certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site
  • Consistently arriving on time, working well with others, and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Wearing long pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by at least six inches (not provided by the Company)
  • Providing basic tools from the provided tool list prior to the first day of employment
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
Abilities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Relocating a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance
  • Working at heights up to 60 feet on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders
  • Performing routine physical tasks (walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, reach overhead)
  • Good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and hearing and communication in English
  • Using a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools
  • Recognizing when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, without necessarily solving the problem
  • Applying general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers
  • Combining pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding relationships among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Seeing details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Listening to and understanding information presented through spoken words and sentences
Desired Skills
  • BICSI Technician certification or willingness to obtain it
  • Manufacture certifications and/or fiber certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
