Job description

Brief Description Of Duties

This position performs professional and technical work involving Network Services group for the Bureau of Distributed Infrastructure. The position is responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining the Department's network infrastructure, VoIP UCaaS, and cellular voice, data systems, and their respective performance and monitoring tools. This team involves both long-term project work with the goal of improving the IT infrastructure and short-term work fulfilling the requests from other teams and efficiently dealing with operational issues.

This position's primary responsibilities are to serve as a lead engineer for designing, implementing, and maintaining new and existing technologies that fall underneath the Network Services group’s responsibilities.

You will be responsible for tracking, reviewing, and validating incoming Telecommunications-related invoices. Maintain liaison with telephone companies, communications component vendors and users to ensure invoicing and costs are accurate.

You will also help to maintain all Department phone systems and components (hardware, software, and documentation) for daily administration modifications and improvements.

Requirements
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in voice network engineering, performing network analysis, design, implementing, and capacity planning with focus on performance tuning and support of large Networks.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Cisco routing, switching and security with strong Cisco hardware/software experience with platforms such as Cisco multilayer switches and/or Unified Communication Gateways.
  • Three (3) years of experience with telecom, finance, or auditing, with a strong focus on invoice reconciliation, carrier tariff structures (LEC/CLEC), and vendor management.
  • Two (2) years of experience with VoIP Systems and IP Protocols.
  • Experience with Contact Center Solutions (Cisco, Five9, Genesis, etc.).
  • Proficient in the English language.
Preferences
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience on IPv4 addressing, subnetting, VLSM and ARP, reverse & proxy ARP, Ping Concepts.
  • Experience with fault and performance monitoring systems (SolarWinds, Nagios etc.).
  • Four (4) years of professional experience in a computer-related field, such as programming, computer science, or engineering. A post-secondary degree in those fields may be used as an alternative on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of computer operations, procedures and systems including support.
  • Ability to process information logically.
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity Communications, Cisco interactive voice response (IVR) systems, Five9 Contact Center CCaaS.
  • Ability to diagnose distributed communications systems and solve problems with same.
  • Ability to operate Windows OS and desktop applications.
Special Notes

This position requires the incumbent to be Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) approved for access to Criminal Justice Information (CJI). The incumbent will adhere to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Administrative Policies and Procedures 4-01, CJIS Management Directive and Local Security Policy.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
