Job summary

A/Z Corp in Smithfield, RI is seeking an Apprentice Telecom Technician to participate in installation, maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems. The role supports licensed technicians and requires a High School education, with the option to grow in a hands-on construction/telecom environment.

Responsibilities include site attendance, following blueprints, data/cable installation, testing and safety adherence. 0-4 years of field experience is acceptable; OSHA 10 cert is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Attend assigned location; may include A/Z office or other project site.
• Follow sketches or blueprints; ensure concealed wiring installed before walls, ceilings, floors.
• Assist with installation of cable supports, sleeves, fire stopping materials.
• Participate in data cable installations, open wiring, conduit and cable trays.
• Assist with installation of relays racks, cabinets, network switches.
• Install cable trays above and below floors; work in confined spaces.
• Terminate data, voice, coaxial, control and fiber optic cables.
• Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer.
• Perform other routine duties as directed by supervisor; adhere to safety rules and quality.

Position Summary

The Apprentice Telecom Technician will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated process along side a licensed Telecom Technician.

Position Responsibilities

• Regular attendance at assigned location; may include A/Z office or other project site;
• Will work with sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
• Assist with installation of cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, fire stopping materials
• Participates in data cable installations, open wiring, with conduit and on cable trays;
• Assists with installation of relays racks, cabinets, network switches.
• Assists with Installation of cable trays above and below floors
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Assists with termination data, voice, coaxial, control and fiber optic cables.
• Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer.
• Perform other routine duties as directed by workplace leader,
• Must maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality;
• Participate in site housekeeping;
• Additional duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
• Experience: 0-4 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship;
• Be highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations;
• Good documentation and record keeping;
• Preparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports and material requests;
• Understanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);
• Appropriate state certification or license;
• OSHA 10 certification.
