Alamon, Inc. seeks a Telecommunication Technician Level 2 for its Network Services department

The Level 2 Telecom Installation Technician is an intermediate field position responsible for performing telecommunications equipment installation, modification, maintenance, removal, and related infrastructure work at customer facilities. This position works with increasing independence under the direction of field supervisors and project leadership and is expected to apply established installation methods, safety requirements, engineering documentation, and customer standards with limited day-to-day instruction.

The Level 2 Technician performs work in environments such as central offices, data centers, switching facilities, huts, shelters, wireless sites, and other telecommunications facilities. Work may include installation of equipment racks and cabinets, cable management systems, DC power equipment, batteries, grounding and bonding systems, fiber and copper cabling, and other associated telecommunications infrastructure.

The Level 2 Technician is expected to consistently follow company and customer safety requirements, installation standards, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), engineering documentation, quality requirements, and direction provided by field leadership. A Level II Technician should be capable of completing assigned work with limited supervision, recognizing installation issues, and supporting Level I Technicians in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform telecommunications equipment installation, modification, maintenance, and removal with limited supervision.
  • Install and secure equipment racks, cabinets, cable racks, ladder rack, equipment frames, and related infrastructure in accordance with engineering and customer standards.
  • Route, dress, secure, label, terminate, and verify telecommunications cabling using established workmanship standards.
  • Install DC power cabling, grounding and bonding, battery systems, rectifiers, power plants, distribution equipment, and associated hardware within assigned skill level.
  • Install and route fiber‑optic and copper cabling and perform basic connectorization, labeling, and continuity verification as required.
  • Perform equipment assembly, mounting, hardware installation, and basic equipment replacement activities.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, installation specifications, site documentation, Bills of Material, and MOPs with limited assistance.
  • Perform basic electrical and telecommunications measurements using approved meters and test equipment within training and authorization limits.
  • Use common hand tools, power tools, hydraulic crimpers, cable preparation tools, and related installation equipment safely and correctly.
  • Complete assigned installation tasks to quality standards and identify workmanship or engineering issues before they affect project completion.
  • Assist with material receiving, inventory, staging, equipment verification, and reconciliation of materials against project documentation.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, damaged equipment, safety concerns, scope conflicts, or installation issues to field leadership in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily documentation, time reporting, photographs, redlines, checklists, test records, and other required project documentation accurately.
  • Follow customer‑specific security, access, change‑control, and site requirements.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, test equipment, and assigned PPE in serviceable condition.
  • Provide task‑level guidance and hands‑on support to Level I Technicians when directed by field leadership.
  • Participate in company and customer training and continue developing proficiency in DC power, grounding, cabling, fiber, equipment installation, and related telecom disciplines.
  • Travel to customer locations and work varying schedules, shifts, nights, weekends, or maintenance windows as project requirements dictate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Possess a current driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel.
  • Pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must be proficient with a laptop.
  • Possess excellent time‑management skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and have a passion for accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently on assigned tasks, and recognize when escalation to field leadership is required.
  • Demonstrated telecommunications installation experience with working knowledge of central office, data center, wireless, or related infrastructure environments.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications: Email, Excel, Word
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational school training, apprenticeship, industry training, or equivalent field experience is preferred.
  • Have the ability to work with and demonstrate the safe operation of power tools including bandsaws, rotary tools, cable cutters, hammer drills, and hydraulic crimpers.
  • Thorough understanding of and adherence to company safety policies, customer safety requirements, stop‑work authority, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Typically requires prior field experience at the Level I or equivalent technician level and demonstrated ability to complete assigned installation tasks with limited supervision.
Level 2 Performance Expectations
  • Complete routine installation assignments with limited supervision while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity expectations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of telecommunications installation standards, MOP compliance, cable routing, labeling, grounding, and equipment installation practices.
  • Recognize field conditions that differ from engineering or scope and elevate them before proceeding when direction is required.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate daily progress, constraints, and material needs to field leadership.
  • Demonstrate readiness to progress toward Level III by taking ownership of increasingly complex tasks and assisting less‑experienced technicians.
  • The Level 2 Telecommunication Technician position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide; extensive travel is required.
  • Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
  • When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
  • This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling or stretching.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi‑colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
  • Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment.

  • This is a full‑time position that requires travel.
  • Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.
