Responsibilities

• Review incoming IT Cabling requests and resolve cable outages
• Perform troubleshooting on both copper and fiber optic cable and resolve all intermittent issues in systems
• Perform tests and validate all copper and fiber installations
• Perform accurate cable termination for all patch panels
• Administer telecommunication cabling architecture for all buildings and cable routes and distribution frames
• Perform cable pulls
• Perform tests and certify fiber optic and cabling system
• Installation of Optical Network Terminals at service points
• Termination and Testing of Copper and Optical Fiber cabling.

Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Telecomm Infrastructure Maintenance Technician to support a major national laboratory.

The successful candidate shall support enterprise infrastructure services and ensures availability across all cable mediums. Improves resolution time by combining field, system, and cabling support. Supports SLA performance, project delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Wired infrastructure Services provides building-to-building cabling (outside plant) and internal-building cabling (inside Plant) support for both a copper and fiber infrastructure.

• Review incoming IT Cabling requests and resolve cable outages
• Perform troubleshooting on both copper and fiber optic cable and resolve all intermittent issues in systems.
• Perform tests and validate all cooper and fiber installations
• Perform accurate cable termination for all patch panels
• Administer telecommunication cabling architecture for all buildings and cable troths and distribution frames
• Perform cable pulls
• Perform tests and certify fiber optic and cabling system
• Installation of Optical Network Terminals at service points.
• Termination and Testing of Copper and Optical Fiber cabling.

Qualifications

• Must have an Active DOE Security Clearance

Required Skills

• Be familiar with RUS standards
• Experience in terminating and testing fiber optic fusion splicing
• Knowledge of cable locate procedures
• Must be able to perceive differences in wire and cable colors
• Proficiency with PC based programs such as Microsoft applications
• Hold a valid driver's license
• Ability to be a team player
