Job summary

River City Construction is seeking a Telecommunication Groundman to support fiber cable construction and repair. This entry-level position offers exposure to power grid projects and storm restoration work, with safety-first standards and outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.

You will assist line-workers, operate equipment, and participate in ongoing training to build technical and leadership skills, while traveling as required across Virginia and Maryland.

Qualifications

• Able to read/write and communicate effectively.
• Able to travel long distances at short notice.
• Able to work for extended periods in multiple locations, when required.
• Able to lift an excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.

Location: Virgina & Maryland, Travel Required

Position Purpose:

The Communication Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid.A groundman's responsible for performing support tasks for fiber cable construction or repair.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuingtraining to improve technical and leadership skills

Tasks:

• Work safely while performing new fiber cable construction or maintenance work
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Perform rigorous physical labor
• Receive and follow directions
• Will work outside,frequentlyin inclement weather
• Does all other related work to complete the job

The noise level in the work environment can be loud. We perform powerline construction work outside, and it subjects us to diverse weather conditions.
