Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a Communications Specialist at the entry level to read and interpret existing drawings and maps, minimizing new drawings unless necessary and producing timely work that meets client and internal standards.

This role involves coordinating with multiple departments to ensure timelines, mastering the IDC/ICGS drafting system, and planning routes and layouts for OSP distribution. A degree in engineering or telecom is required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in telecommunications network design.
• Ability to access, input and retrieve information from network computer stations.
• Ability to self-check own work for accuracy and completeness.
• Able to work with engineers and other personnel to direct project completion.
• Able to self-start, be detail oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret existing drawings and maps to minimize new drawings; create new drawings as needed.
• Adhere to FTTP and project documentation standards (land base maps, assessor maps, Verizon OSP records).
• Work with multiple departments to meet project timelines and ensure accurate information.
• Maintain proficiency with Verizon IDDS/ICGS drafting system.
• Plan feeder routes, FDA cabinet locations, distribution routes & boundaries.
• Develop design engineering layouts for OSP distribution on base maps.
• Generate construction prints from IDDS/ICGS system.
• Self-check and QC work for completeness, accuracy and presentation quality.
• Keep current with future telecom tech trends and apply them when relevant.
