Job description

· When fulfilling the role of remote continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients, the staff member is required to:

  1. Verbally redirect the patient from engaging in any at-risk behaviors.
  2. Summon nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.

The monitor staff will be knowledgeable, abide by patient and institutional confidentiality, and adhere to all related hospital policies.

· Works under the supervision of a direct supervisor.

· Is a valued member of the health delivery team.

· Participates in departmental specific training, including Environment of Care (injury/illness prevention, fire/life safety, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, utilities management, medical equipment management, safety and security management), and infection control (standard precautions, TB Exposure Control Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan).

· Demonstrates knowledge of and follows safety practices, understanding the importance of safety, including patient safety, and maintains a safe environment for self and others.

· Actively participates in the Patient Safety Program, including event reporting, identifying sentinel events/near misses, and responding per organization processes. Participates in education activities and process implementation. Demonstrates advocacy for patients, customers, and visitors.

Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:

  • Familiarity with healthcare settings is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence, communication skills, and sensitivity to patients and families.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively coordinate multiple patient care assignments, use time management skills, and problem-solve.
