CJR is seeking a Residential Teen Support Advocate in Wethersfield, CT. The role provides on-call coverage to supervise young adult males in a supportive independent living environment, focusing on emotional regulation and trauma-informed care.

The position offers an on-call schedule with $19.00 per hour, training with paid hours, and opportunities to engage with residents in education, wellness, and family engagement activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with at-risk or court-involved adolescents is preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed programming is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant sight and sound supervision of youths and ensure safety.
• Follow routines, schedules and structure.
• Record observations in daily logs.
• Monitor healthcare needs and medication adherence.
• Accompany residents to work, school, meetings and activities.
• Keep living spaces organized, clean and safe.
• Utilize DBT coaching to support skill use.
• Transport adolescents to appointments and recreation.
• Provide transportation for family visits and home passes as needed.

Per Diem/ As Needed Schedule
$19.00 per hour

About the Position:

The ResidentialTeen Support Advocate is dedicated to the direct supervision of young adult males (ages 17-21) in a supportive independent living environment. This employee will cultivate a safe, healthy, therapeutic, nurturing and caring home environment that is supportive of each resident’s individualized needs including social, emotional, and academic development. These employees are positive role models that will support youth on the proficiency of their DBT skill use including emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.

• Maintain constant sight and sound supervision of youths within established program guidelines; ensure physical safety of youth and provide crisis intervention as needed
• Follow established routines, schedules, and structure
• Record observations in daily documentation logs
• Monitor and report healthcare needs or concerns, and ensuring compliance with daily medication regimen
• Accompany residents between work/school expectations, meetings, appointments and/or other activities
• Ensure living spaces are organized, clean, safe and free from hazards
• Utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) coaching to enhance adolescents learning and skill use
• Transport adolescents to appointments and recreation trips
• Provide transportation to adolescents and families as programmatic needs dictate in order to facilitate family visitation/sessions and home passes

Rate of Pay & Schedule:

• Hourly paying position at $19.00 per hour
• As-Needed availability
  • You'll be covering full-time and part-time staff who are calling out or taking time off
  • You will be notified as soon as shifts are available
  • No hours are guaranteed each week/ month as this is an on-call position
• First week of employment will be located in Litchfield, CT Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm for training/ orientation (35 hours of paid training)
• Eligible for time and a half/ overtime after 40 worked hours in 1-week time period

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED – Required
• Valid driver's license - Required
• Experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents - Required
• Knowledge of strengths-based and trauma sensitive programming (preferred)
