The Cary Library in Lexington seeks a Full-Time Teen Services Manager (Librarian II) to coordinate the reopening of the Teen Space and develop programs for teens. The role involves supervising staff and participating in leadership initiatives, contributing to a diverse and inclusive community.
Are you a creative, forward-looking librarian passionate about working with young people? The Cary Library in Lexington, Massachusetts, seeks a Full-Time Teen Services Manager (Librarian II) to join our team. Located just four blocks from Lexington High School, our library is a popular destination for students in grades 6-12. Our Teen Space has been closed for the past year due to renovations of the adjacent Children’s Room, and the new Teen Services Manager will coordinate its reopening this fall.
In partnership with our Head of Youth Services, the Teen Services Manager develops engaging programs, curates relevant collections, and supervises teen staff. The role also involves active participation in the Library’s Leadership Team and library-wide initiatives.

Work Schedule: 37 hours/week, including one evening until 9 pm and one Saturday every four weeks. When working a Saturday, a weekday off is scheduled. Optional Sundays at time-and-a-half may be available. Additional nights/weekends may be required for programs.
Compensation: $35.30 - $42.97/hour in seven steps, with differential pay after 6 pm on weekdays and all day Saturday. Time-and-a-half pay for voluntary Sundays. Includes excellent benefits. This is a Union position. Salary expected to increase to $36.01 - $43.83 on July 1, 2025.
Qualifications: A Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent experience. Experience working with teenagers (preferably in a library), supervisory experience, and adaptability to evolving library roles are required.
Desired Skills: Self-motivated team player, respectful of diversity, committed to inclusive services, detail-oriented, able to multitask, experienced with Library Integrated Systems, and capable of managing upward and downward.
Language Skills: Ability to speak Chinese, Korean, or Spanish is a plus.
