Job summary

Evolve Treatment Centers is seeking a passionate Residential Counselor to join our team at one of our 6-bed teen residential treatment centers in California. The role involves supervising up to six adolescents in residential treatment for 30–60 days, supporting daily activities, and facilitating groups.

We value experienced, dedicated staff who are flexible and committed to boundaries, privacy, and safety, with potential for growth in the mental health field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• All schedules require working at least 1 weekend shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support and supervision to clients struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues
• Establish positive and nurturing relationships with the clients within professional boundaries
• Maintain vigilance and awareness of the milieu while monitoring the behavior, activities, and security of the clients
• Engage in activities with the clients, such as hikes, equine therapy, surf therapy, and fitness groups
• Create a constructive therapeutic community in accordance with the Center’s policies
• Conduct and facilitate psycho-education groups and recreational activities
• Perform crisis management and interventions as necessary
• Demonstrate model behaviors
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all shift activities
• Oversee and participate in meal-times and assist clients with life skills (i.e. laundry, dishes, and making bed)

Education
