Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Teen Coordinator to design, plan and implement high-quality enrichment programs for teens aged 13–17. You will collaborate with families, schools, and partners to promote leadership, service learning and personal growth within a supportive, inclusive environment.

You will supervise teen attendants and volunteers, ensure safety and policy compliance, and contribute to program reporting for staff and funders. Flexible hours include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Staff shall be in good character and reputation.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Complies with background checks.
• Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills for interacting with children.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and deliver engaging programs for teens (Leaders Club, Y Achievers, Teen Entrepreneurship, Youth & Government).
• Build strong relationships with teens as a mentor and role model.
• Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and families to support teen engagement.
• Provide teens with leadership, teamwork and communication development opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and safety standards; supervise teens and volunteers.
• Track participation, attendance and outcomes; prepare program reports and success stories.
