Job summary

The West Side YMCA in Manhattan is seeking a Part-Time Teen Coordinator to lead teen programs, supervise staff, and partner with local schools. Under the Youth & Family Director, you will coordinate registrations, recruit volunteers, and help measure program impact.

Responsibilities include managing travel for teen trips, fostering social-emotional learning, and assisting with budgeting and outreach. A supportive, inclusive environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A college degree in Education or Social Work is desirable.
  • Minimum two years of experience with teens/youth and planning activities.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certifications preferred.

  • Manage participant paperwork and data entry in relevant systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement registrations, programming, and events.

The West Side YMCA is seeking a Teen Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen Coordinator will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the branch. Position responsibilities include assisting the Youth & Family Director with staff management, program development, outreach, recruitment, and key community partnerships, such as local schools. The impact of teen programs will be carefully measured and monitored for continuous improvement. Teen programs take place during the school year, concurrent with the school day, after school hours, and on Saturday evenings. Teen programs also take place during the summer on Saturday evenings. The Teen Coordinator will supervise all teen travel, including overnight and multi-day trips. Program Portfolio may include: Y Saturday Night Lights (SNL), Y Scholars, Teens Take the City (TTC), Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, Teen Center, and any newly developed programs. **Key Responsibilities:*** Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of teens in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.* Manage administrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET and AS400, coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and all other requirements outlined by City agencies and in the YMCA’s Teen Standards.* Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, programming, workshops, and special events with support from part-time Teen Advisors.* Directly facilitate teen programming in lieu of the Teen Advisor when a position is vacant.* Ensure that programming is led with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.* Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information and help to compile program statistics.* Help develop, implement, and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.* Establish and maintain links with service providers in various settings, including other CBOs, schools, and partnerships.* Attend designated meetings, training sessions, and special events related to teen programming.* Participate in Branch Fundraising or Annual Support Campaigns.* Acts as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.* Provide support to the Youth & Director regarding staff management and scheduling.* Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.* Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens.**Desired Skills & Experience:*** High School Diploma or equivalent required.
