Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Part-Time Teen Advisor to supervise all teen programs including the Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights. You will advertise and recruit participants, manage documentation and reporting, and help meet program outcome goals under the Teen Coordinator.

Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, maintaining safe spaces, and coordinating with staff to ensure program quality and youth engagement across diverse communities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience with pre-teens/teens.
• Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all teen programs and ensure safety and well-being of participants.
• Plan, create, and deliver lesson plans for programs.
• Manage participant paperwork and surveys; report outcomes.
• Develop positive relationships with teens, their friends and families.
• Lead programming focused on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
• Collaborate with staff across departments and attend required meetings.

Part‑Time / Regular – $17.52 hourly. The YMCA of Greater New York serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers through programs and services at its 24 branches, fostering community, health and youth empowerment.

Overview

The Flatbush YMCA is seeking a Teen Advisor to supervise all teen programs, including the Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights. In this role you will advertise and recruit participants, manage documentation and reporting, and meet program outcome goals under the guidance of the Teen Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of participants by providing close supervision and maintaining clean spaces.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for all programs.
• Manage data entry in Youth Service.NET, coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and comply with City and YMCA Teen Standards.
• Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
• Develop positive relationships with participants, their friends, and family members.
• Lead programming with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
• Work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
• Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens.
• Attend designated meetings, training sessions, and special events.
• Adhere to all Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations.

Desired Skills & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with pre‑teens and teens (ages 13 and older).
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Access, Adobe PageMaker, and Photoshop preferred.
• Must complete Mandated Reporter Training within thirty days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfort working with diverse youth and adults.
