The Opportunity

Nestled in 20 hectares of natural bushland, Carey Baptist College Forrestdale offers a unique educational environment where nature meets modern, purpose-built facilities. Established in 2016, our rapidly growing campus provides a vibrant learning community featuring state-of-the-art STEM infrastructure, dedicated workshop spaces, and custom-designed environments built to foster hands-on innovation and creative design.

Carey Baptist College is seeking a passionate, highly skilled, and adaptable Christian Secondary Technology Teacher to join our Secondary team, commencing in January 2027 (or earlier by negotiation for the right candidate). We are flexible regarding load and are happy to consider applicants seeking between 0.6 FTE and a full-time 1.0 FTE placement.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build, shape, and grow a Technology programme in our new, state-of-the-art facilities. We are open to innovative ideas to expand and develop this learning space, making it an ideal role for a versatile educator who thrives on turning theoretical ideas into practical projects within a supportive Christian framework. We are looking for someone with a diverse skill set across areas such as Materials/Design (Metal or Wood), Robotics & Mechatronics, Digital Technologies, Computing, or Engineering. Additionally, a background or skillset in Media Production and Analysis would be advantageous as our technology and creative arts pathways continue to expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build & Innovate: Shape, develop, and expand our Technology curriculum in our new state-of-the-art facilities, bringing fresh ideas to grow the programme and learning space.
  • Deliver Engaging Curriculum: Plan, facilitate, and assess high-quality practical and theoretical learning across Design & Technology and Digital Technologies learning areas.
  • Embed Explicit Pedagogy: Utilise evidence-based teaching strategies, drawing on AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) frameworks to build inquiry, collaboration, organisation, and problem-solving habits in every workshop, lab, and studio space.
  • Inspire Technological & Creative Innovation: Cultivate practical craft, design thinking, coding, engineering principles, or digital media creation, drawing on our specialised STEM and media facilities to engage students in real‑world contexts.
  • Maintain Safety Standards: Ensure a safe, supportive, and well‑managed environment adhering to all occupational health and safety standards.
  • Support Student Wellbeing: Champion an inclusive, encouraging culture that nurtures character development, resilience, and academic growth.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Work alongside dedicated colleagues to refine learning programmes aligned with the College’s mission and strategic vision.
About You

You are an experienced or emerging secondary-trained educator with a heart for student growth, a passion for hands‑on learning, and a commitment to relational, faith-informed teaching. You recognise that learning happens best when students feel known, valued, and challenged to attempt the extraordinary.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Secondary Education with specialisation or expertise in Design & Technology, Digital Technologies, STEM, or Media.
  • Practical expertise in one or more areas: Materials (Wood or Metal), Robotics & Mechatronics, Computing/Digital Tech, Engineering, or Media Production and Analysis.
  • A vision for curriculum growth and enthusiasm for building programmes in modern facilities.
  • Experience with, or a strong desire to embrace, AVID pedagogical methodologies alongside Visible Learning practices to raise academic ambition and technical confidence.
  • A reflective teaching practice that uses data and formative feedback to guide student progress.
  • An active Christian faith and a desire to play your part in the story of God in the world as a key contributor to our open‑enrolment Christian community.
