About Academy Of Visual And Performing Arts

Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a 6-12th grade, tuition-free public charter school for students in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to provide a safe, challenging learning environment that cultivates our students' academic and artistic excellence. Start Date: January 6, 2025

Type: Full-time position. Work hours are generally 7:45 am - 4:15 pm. Flexibility in the work schedule is expected due to the nature of working in a start-up environment. The schedule will be adjusted to accommodate after-hours assignments.

Summary

Reporting to the Conservatory Director, the Digital Media Arts (Technology) Teacher ensures that the campus meets high standards of organizational and academic excellence with a focus on student achievement. Core responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing lesson plans fulfilling curriculum requirements, including differentiation, scaffolds, assessments, and evidence of preparation.
  • Preparing lessons accommodating different learning styles.
  • Providing instruction to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
  • Using instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technologies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Presenting subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Collaborating with special education staff to modify curricula as needed.
  • Working with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
  • Assisting in selecting instructional materials.
  • Supervising teacher aides and volunteers.

Student Growth and Development

  • Using formative and summative assessments to gauge mastery of standards.
  • Analyzing data, including subgroup data, to improve instruction.
  • Maintaining records of attendance, grades, assessments, and other documentation.
  • Monitoring standardized testing, including test security and data management.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Creating a conducive learning environment.
  • Implementing discipline and classroom management strategies.
  • Establishing behavior expectations and monitoring compliance.
  • Taking precautions to ensure safety of students and property.

Communication

  • Maintaining open communication with staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Fostering team collaboration and collegiality.
  • Conducting parent and student conferences.
  • Maintaining professionalism in all interactions.

Professional Growth

  • Participating in professional development and collaborative planning.
  • Designing arts-integrated, project-based learning experiences.

Other Duties

  • Staying informed of regulations and policies.
  • Maintaining required reports and records.
  • Participating in meetings and committees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
