Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a Technology Support Analyst I to provide desk-side and remote end-user support for the Chicago office. You will diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, assist with conference room tech, and maintain documentation for IT processes.

Working closely with the IT Service Desk and other teams, you’ll help roll out new technologies, support Citrix and VPN access, and deliver superior customer service in a fast-paced, professional services environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or technical qualification in Computer Science or related field; CompTIA A+ and MS certifications preferred.
  • 3–4 years of desktop support experience in a professional services environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting of desktop hardware, software, OS, peripherals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office in a corporate setting.
  • Experience with AV systems, conference rooms, and video conferencing.
  • Familiarity with Citrix, VPN, MFA, and mobile device management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with stakeholders.
  • Organizational discipline: documentation, procedures, and prioritization.
  • Collaborative, adaptable team player able to work independently.
  • Beneficial experience with iManage DeskSite/FileSite, AirWatch, PeopleSoft, Carpe Diem, Avaya.

Responsibilities

  • Desktop & End-User Support: Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade PCs, OS, software, and peripherals.
  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose issues, apply troubleshooting methodologies, and resolve incidents or escalate promptly.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide prompt, professional support while managing multiple priorities.
  • Service Desk Collaboration: Support via phone and work with IT Service Desk for incident resolution.
  • Remote Access Support: Support Citrix and VPN environments.
  • Mobile Device Assistance: Configure and troubleshoot iOS devices and mobile workforce tech.
  • Networking Support: Troubleshoot basic networking and wireless connectivity issues.
  • Voice & Communications: Support VoIP systems and telephony-related issues.
  • Conference Room Tech: Set up and test AV equipment and video conferencing systems.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Document solutions and best practices for team use.
  • Ticket Management: Use ITSM systems to document and manage incidents through resolution.
  • Project & Rollout Support: Assist with deployments and firm-wide technology initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with technical teams to resolve issues and share expertise.

As a Technology Support Analyst I, you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day technology needs of our professionals by providing desktop, hardware, software, and conference room support. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues, and is committed to delivering a high level of customer service.

Working closely with end users, the Global Information Technology (IT) Service Desk, and other technical teams, you’ll help ensure seamless technology operations across the business. You’ll also contribute to technology rollouts, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement efforts by documenting solutions and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

This position requires full-time, on-site presence in the office and participation in firm-wide maintenance windows, including occasional evening and weekend overtime.

  • Desktop & End-User Support: Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade personal computers, operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose technical issues, apply effective troubleshooting methodologies, and resolve incidents independently or through timely escalation when needed.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Deliver prompt, professional, and courteous support while managing multiple priorities and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Service Desk Collaboration: Provide phone-based support and work closely with the Global Information Technology (IT) Service Desk to ensure efficient incident resolution.
  • Remote Access Support: Support remote computing environments, including Citrix and Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies.
  • Mobile Device Assistance: Configure and troubleshoot Apple iOS devices and support mobile workforce technology needs.
  • Networking Support: Troubleshoot basic networking and wireless connectivity issues to restore user productivity.
  • Voice & Communications Technology: Support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems and assist with telephony-related issues.
  • Conference Room Technology: Set up, test, and troubleshoot audio visual equipment, video conferencing systems, and meeting room technology.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of solutions, processes, and technical findings to improve team effectiveness.
  • Ticket Management: Utilize Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) systems to document, track, and manage incidents while maintaining ownership through resolution.
  • Project & Rollout Support: Follow established procedures, checklists, and quality standards while assisting with technology deployments and firm-wide initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with technical teams to investigate issues, share expertise, and support successful problem resolution across the organization.
  • On-Call & Maintenance Support: Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and provide occasional overtime support for upgrades, rollouts, and critical technology initiatives.
What You’ll Bring

Education & Certifications: Degree, diploma, or technical qualification in Computer Science or a related field; CompTIA A+ and Microsoft certifications are preferred.

  • Relevant Experience: 3 to 4 years of experience supporting desktop technologies in a professional services environment; law firm experience is a plus.
  • Technical Troubleshooting Expertise: Strong understanding of desktop hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, and end-user support best practices.
  • Microsoft Ecosystem Knowledge: Experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications within a corporate environment.
  • Conference & Collaboration Technology: Experience supporting audio visual systems, conference centers, and video conferencing platforms such as Polycom and Cisco.
  • Endpoint & Remote Support Skills: Familiarity with Citrix, VPN technologies, mobile device management tools, and remote user support.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities with confidence interacting with professionals at all levels of the organization.
  • Customer-Focused Mindset: Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding service while remaining patient, professional, and solution-oriented.
  • Organization & Process Discipline: Ability to manage competing priorities, follow established procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and work effectively under pressure.

  • Technology Environment Exposure: Experience with technologies such as iManage DeskSite and FileSite, AirWatch, PeopleSoft, Carpe Diem, Avaya, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Lenovo devices, and ITSM platforms is beneficial.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Chicago: $51,000 - $72,000
