Job summary

boisei labs is seeking Technology Strategists to lay the groundwork for the development of new and existing ventures in our venture studio pipeline. You will identify, research, design, test, and iterate on a wide variety of 'tech for good' ideas and collaborate with our Board of Ethics to ensure ventures have outsized social impact.

This entry to junior role accepts candidates with entrepreneurial tendencies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest and commitment to 'tech for good' initiatives.
• Experience in early-stage startups as a founder or early employee is preferred.
• Experience in business development, technology consulting, or similar preferred.
• A track record of operating independently in ambiguous, fast-moving settings.
• Strong research and interviewing skills, with an understanding of social science principles and how to translate them into business insight.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with genuine comfort representing a venture externally.
• Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Location: State College, PA

Compensation: $100,000 base salary (full compensation will be discussed), plus benefits

Overview

boisei labs is looking for Technology Strategists to lay the groundwork for the development of new and existing ventures in our venture studio pipeline. You will identify, research, design, test, and iterate upon a wide variety of 'tech for good' venture ideas. As part of this work, you will collaborate with our Board of Ethics and leadership team to ensure ventures have outsized social / environmental return. You will be expected to contribute broadly and flexibly to the Company's 'tech for good' mission and to proactively take on any and all work to help build and scale ventures.

This role includes technical and non-technical work, meaning candidates should be comfortable working as a generalist across multiple domains, with several projects ongoing at one time. This is a fantastic entry or junior level position for candidates with demonstrated 'tech for good' and entrepreneurial tendencies.

Key Responsibilities

Areas of work are broadly broken down into two categories:

Technology Development

• Conduct competitive analysis

• Develop technoeconomic analysis for new ventures

• Create prototypes (either in house, or with external partners) to derisk key technologies

• Develop technology development blueprints to inform in house or external partner product builds

Business Analyst

• Develop novel business plans

• Conduct market research, and directly explore venture ideas with users and customers

• Identify key assumptions around business viability, and design experiments to get quick answers

• Coordinate with external service providers (legal, marketing, etc) as needed

• Assist with analysis for potential boisei investment portfolio companies

Your specific responsibilities may change as the venture studio and our active venture companies scale and/or turn over. We will ask you to seek out and execute opportunities to add the most value to the Company at any given time in our venture studio's evolution.

WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR

This role is best suited for someone who is:

• Curious and quick to pick up new ideas, paired with the persistence to dig deep and uncover new insight.

• A demonstrated self-starter who can navigate ambiguous, novel work - ideally shaped by past entrepreneurial experience.

• Comfortable working across various projects simultaneously, with minimal structure.
