Job Purpose

BTIG is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. All deployments are on Linux, so the candidate must have hands-on daily work experience with Linux OS. You should be comfortable supporting various aspects of our technology infrastructure as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Own and maintain PostgreSQL clusters across different environments (prod/dev/UAT) on Linux (bare-metal, virtualized, containerized).
• Design and implement PostgreSQL database systems to meet business requirements, including performance and high availability.
• Optimize database performance through hardware, configuration, indexing, and partitioning.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for high-volume environments.
• Develop and support backup and disaster recovery procedures.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and proactive measures to maintain database health.
• Diagnose and resolve database issues, including OS, hardware, and network troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support database usage.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Hands-on experience with Linux OS.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL management, including high availability (Patroni), CDC, security, replication, backups, restores, upgrades, and disaster recovery.
• Strong skills in PostgreSQL performance tuning and query optimization.
• Ability to train and evangelize PostgreSQL best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and storage management.
• Strong Linux skills.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as shell script, Python, PowerShell.
