Job Overview
The Technology Specialist I installs, repairs, upgrades, calibrates, and troubleshoots current and future technology products. In addition, this position trains customers on all levels of survey infrastructure products and machine technology.

Essential Functions
- Models the use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership tools, ensuring alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
- Demonstrates technology products and recommends the best solutions for each customer application.
- Installs laser, GPS, and UTS systems on all makes and models of heavy equipment, and sets up correctional GPS sources such as Base Stations, Internet Base Station Service (IBSS), or Virtual Reference Station (VRS).
- Teaches customers and employees to optimize productivity and monitor machine health across laser, GPS, UTS, infrastructure, survey products, site calibrations, File Management, VisionLink, and Winflash.
- Coordinates with manager to develop a product database that assists in troubleshooting and works with other departments to meet customer needs.
- Creates and initiates machine communications with back office for downloading/uploading models and surface data.
- Troubleshoots electrical systems, CAN and Ethernet networks, and hydraulic systems, documenting the process to improve efficiency.
- Performs system testing with sample/live data and technology.
- Maintains and improves current technology.
- Verifies site calibrations using proper survey techniques and troubleshoots using rovers, robotic total stations, auto levels, and level loops when necessary.
- Works with programs such as MAS, SiSweb, ET, Business Center, Trimble Connected Community, Veda, and Trimble Store.
- Installs, measures up, calibrates Earthworks platforms on all models with robotic total stations and survey products.
- Performs application calibrations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
- Serves as a technician who tests, diagnoses, repairs, and adjusts electronic and optical equipment, requiring operational understanding of heavy civil site construction.
- Utilizes Business Center software to update customer files, check for modeling errors, and verify data.
- Works with other departments to ensure customers' needs are met.
- Trains customers on CAT integrated technology products.
- Pulls and prepares inventory to complete tasks.
- Provides customer service on the “SITECH Help Desk,” troubleshooting machine and off‑machine issues over the phone with professionalism.
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
- Works safely at all times, adhering to all applicable safety policies and company procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills and schematic reading.
- Experience with 3‑D site modeling and interaction of models with machine controls and site calibrations.
- Ability to operate a wide range of heavy equipment, including motor graders, dozers, loaders, skid steers, asphalt trimmers, rock mills, piling machines, paving systems, asphalt and concrete pavers, and curbing machines.
- Ability to install and repair hydraulic valve systems and associated control systems.
- Strong electrical system experience and ability to troubleshoot CAN network systems, build and pin out cables.
- Ability to disassemble and repair electronic systems related to machine technology and survey infrastructure products.
- Skill in cutting, grinding, welding, and soldering.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and some college, or additional technical training, required.
- Associate’s Degree in Survey, Auto, or Diesel Mechanics preferred.
- Trimble Certified Trainer preferred.
- Up to 2 years experience with machine control products and infrastructure preferred.

Travel:
- Up to 30% travel may be required, including overnight stays.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Significant time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
- Constant movement and use of hands, requiring good manual dexterity.
- Frequent communication with others, requiring accurate information exchange.
- Ability to react to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions.
- Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue.

- Ability to ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress using both hands and feet, including ladders and equipment.
Work Environment:
- Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes.
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
- Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment.
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment.
- Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting.
- Exposure to high noise levels and vibration.
- Works in confined workspaces, awkward positions, and high places.
- Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.
