Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) in Chapel Hill is seeking a Technology Services Senior Designer to empower clients with energy-efficient building solutions and green futures.

You will convert design concepts into layouts using basis of design, user input, surveys, and code research, collaborating with experts to deliver high-quality projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing ICT systems in Built Environment, Building Technology, or Electrical consultant firms.
• Experience leading ICT design for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Scientific environments.
• Familiarity with Revit MEP and AutoCAD capabilities.
• Certification such as RCDD, CTS-D, PSP, or CNIDP preferred.
• Experience with ICT systems budgets and options.

Responsibilities

• Convert system design concepts into layouts by interpreting basis of design and information from users, consultants, field surveys and code research.
• Lead ICT design for projects in Healthcare, Higher Education, and Scientific environments.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design quality and compliance.
• Manage budgets and provide ICT system options during project development.

As a Technology Services Senior Designer in our Chapel Hill office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

In this role, you will use your experience and on-going training to convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting information set forth in basis of design as well as information gathered from users, other consultants, field surveys and code research.

Expertise of our most successful Technology Services SeniorDesigner:

• 10+ years’ experience designing Information Communications Technology (ICT) systems in a Built Environment, Building Technology, or Electrical consultant firm: structured cabling, voice/data systems, emergency communications, audio-visual systems, mission critical/data center connectivity, clinical communication systems to name a few.
• Experience in leading the ICT design for projects in Healthcare, Higher Education, and Scientific environments.
• Understanding of in Revit MEP and AutoCAD capabilities.
• RCDD, CTS-D, PSP, or CNIDP certification preferred.
• Experience with ICT systems and infrastructure, including budgets, capabilities, options.

Effective skills to help you flourish:

• Understanding of building systems spatial requirements and design coordination.
• Knowledge of TIA, BICSI and NEC standards.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
