Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in the United States is hiring a Technology Manager, ELN/LIMS to own the product strategy and lifecycle for ELN and LIMS platforms supporting DePuy Synthes R&D. Qualifications

  • 6–8 years in IT product management or technology delivery with enterprise platforms.
  • Hands-on ELN and/or LIMS configuration, integrations, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of R&D workflows, data management, and validation in regulated settings.
  • Proven ability to define roadmaps, backlogs, and prioritize based on value, risk, and compliance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders without authority.
  • Excellent communication to translate complex topics into business outcomes.
  • Comfort operating in a matrixed, global organization with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Own ELN/LIMS product vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to R&D, quality, and regulatory needs.
  • Interface with business and IT to translate requirements into features and specs.
  • Collaborate with Data, Regulatory, and Quality teams to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Lead vendor and platform management: selection, roadmap influence, contracts, performance.
  • Apply AI, analytics, and automation to modernize R&D platforms for faster insights.
  • Guide agile/hybrid delivery teams to on-time, on-budget enhancements and integrations.
  • Oversee validation, change control, upgrades, and decommissioning with Quality/IT.
  • Monitor performance and adoption; drive improvements via metrics and feedback.
  • Mentor team members and foster collaboration, accountability, and learning.

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Technology Manager, ELN/LIMS located at Raynham, MA or Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Warsaw, IN or West Chester, PA or Newbrunswick, NJ.

Job Overview

This role is accountable for the product ownership, strategy, and lifecycle management of Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) platforms supporting DePuy Synthes R&D. The Manager, ELN/LIMS partners closely with R&D scientists, quality, regulatory, and IT delivery teams to ensure these platforms enable compliant, efficient, and data-driven research and development operations. This role plays a critical part in advancing digital R&D capabilities and ensuring systems are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with business priorities and reports into the DePuy Synthes Technology organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for ELN and LIMS platforms, aligning technology capabilities with R&D, quality, and regulatory needs.
  • Serve as the primary business and IT interface for ELN/LIMS, translating scientific and operational requirements into prioritized product features and technical requirements.
  • Partner with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Data teams to ensure ELN/LIMS solutions support data integrity, traceability, and compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
  • Lead vendor and platform management, including selection, roadmap influence, contract oversight, and performance management for ELN/LIMS solutions.
  • Lead the application of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to modernize R&D platforms, accelerating product development, improving scientific and engineering insights, and strengthening end‑to‑end decision‑making while enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient R&D operations from discovery through lifecycle management.
  • Guide agile or hybrid delivery teams, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery of enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Oversee system lifecycle activities, including validation, change control, upgrades, and decommissioning, in partnership with Quality and IT.
  • Monitor platform performance and user adoption, driving continuous improvement through metrics, user feedback, and process optimization.
  • Develop and mentor team members and extended product team contributors, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (e.g., MS, MBA) preferred.
Required
  • 6-8 years of experience in IT product management, product ownership, or technology delivery, with direct responsibility for enterprise platforms in an R&D or regulated environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with ELN and/or LIMS platforms, including configuration, integrations, and lifecycle management (technical skills).
  • Strong understanding of R&D laboratory workflows, data management, and system validation concepts within regulated industries (technical & business skills).
  • Demonstrated ability to define product roadmaps, manage backlogs, and prioritize work based on business value, risk, and compliance needs (business skills).
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority (leadership skills).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear business outcomes (business & leadership skills).
  • Proven capability to operate in a matrixed, global organization while applying sound judgment and decision‑making (leadership skills).
Preferred
  • Experience supporting medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences R&D environments.
  • Familiarity with GxP, data integrity (ALCOA+), and computerized system validation (CSV) expectations.
  • Experience with agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models and related tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Prior people management or formal team‑lead experience.
  • Exposure to data analytics, system integrations, or cloud‑based laboratory platforms.

  • Language: English proficiency required.
  • Travel: Up to 10%, domestic and occasional international.
  • Certifications: Product Owner, Agile, or ITIL certifications preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

102,000.00 - 204,000.00 USD Annual

Additional Description For Pay Transparency
  • Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
