Job summary

Zartis is seeking a Technology Lead / Architect to work on a project in the online marketplaces space. You will own the technical direction, stay hands-on with code, and design services for GCP serverless infrastructure while integrating with existing microservices and monoliths.

You will lead a distributed team, align with product and design, and push AI-powered features responsibly, balancing speed with reliability and security.

Qualifications

• 7 years backend engineering experience with Java expertise.
• Strong experience with Spring and/or Dropwizard frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and running microservices architectures, and comfort working alongside legacy/monolithic systems.
• Experience with MySQL and MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, ideally Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore and Cloud Armor.
• Significant experience building AI-powered products, and enthusiasm for AI frontier work.
• Previous experience as a Tech Lead or Architect while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and architecture of the squad's products, from early experiments through to production.
• Stay hands-on: write code, review pull requests and build core components.
• Design services that run on GCP serverless infrastructure (Cloud Run) and use GCP managed services.
• Integrate new products with the client's existing landscape, including microservices and monoliths.
• Guide and support engineers, setting technical standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Manager and UX Designer to turn ideas into sound, testable products.
• Help the team build AI-powered features balancing speed of experimentation with reliability and security.

We are looking for a Technology Lead / Architect to work on a project in the online marketplaces industry.

The project:

You will be part of a distributed team developing new technologies to solve real business problems, they are building a new team that runs classifieds platforms across several markets (AI-driven platforms). The team will build new experimental products that use AI, working closely with the client's existing engineering ecosystem.

We are looking for someone with good communication skills, ideally with experience making decisions, being proactive, used to building software from scratch, and with good attention to detail.

What you will do:

• Own the technical direction and architecture of the squad's products, from early experiments through to production.

• Stay hands-on: write code, review pull requests and build core components alongside the team.

• Design services that run on GCP serverless infrastructure (Cloud Run) and make good use of GCP managed services.

• Integrate new products with the client's existing landscape, which is mostly microservices plus a remaining monolith.

• Guide and support engineers of mixed seniority, setting technical standards and good engineering practices.

• Work closely with the Product Manager and UX Designer to turn ideas into technically sound, testable products.

• Help the team build AI-powered features responsibly, balancing speed of experimentation with reliability and security.

What you will bring:

• 7 years of backend engineering experience, with deep, hands‑on expertise in Java.

• Strong experience with Spring and/or Dropwizard frameworks.

• Proven experience designing and running microservices architectures, and comfort working alongside legacy/monolithic systems.

• Experience with MySQL and MongoDB.

• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform, ideally Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore and Cloud Armor (strong experience on another major cloud may be considered).

• Significant experience building AI‑powered products, and genuine enthusiasm for working at the AI frontier.

• Previous experience as a Tech Lead or Architect while remaining hands‑on.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with the frontend stack: React, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL and the BFF pattern.

• Exposure to Flutter/Dart mobile development.

• Experience setting up a new team or product from scratch.
