Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or a master’s in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Security, Business, and/or computer related academic program at a college/university.
  • Completion of the 2026 Lilly technology summer internship.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

The Lilly Technology group is looking for curious, self‑motivated interns who thrive on solving complex problems and making a real‑world impact. During your internship, you may work in the following areas:

  • Generative AI – Applying cutting‑edge AI to transform how we work and deliver medicines.
  • Cloud Engineering – Architecting scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • System Engineering – Designing and managing complex systems that drive business outcomes.
  • Data Science & Machine Learning – Leveraging data and algorithms to empower decision‑making.
  • Software Product Engineering – Creating tools and platforms that accelerate innovation.
  • Cybersecurity – Building secure, vigilant, and resilient systems to protect our people and products.
  • User Experience Design – Delivering seamless, human‑centered digital experiences.
  • Integrated Product Systems – Supporting digital components of medicines, devices, and apps.
  • Product Leadership & Mindset – Driving vision, strategy, and adoption of tech solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or a master’s in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Security, Business, and/or computer related academic program at a college/university.

Additional Functional Job Skills & Preference
  • Prior experience using AI tools (e.g., generative AI platforms, automation tools, or AI‑assisted research/analytics tools) in an academic, project, or work setting.
  • Career interest in technology and a passion for applying technology solutions to help patients live better lives.
  • Solid skills in problem analysis and problem solving.
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom.
  • Familiarity with design, development, and operational methodologies (I.e. Agile, Waterfall, ITIL).
  • Passion for working on a team from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with gathering and writing technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of Agile concepts, methodology and frameworks.
Additional Information

All interns will be considered for full‑time positions based on their internship performance. Lilly arranges various intern activities including sporting events, dinners, lunch and learns, volunteer activities etc. to provide opportunities for socializing, professional development, and learning more about Lilly.

  • Interns will receive 1 week of paid time off during the Lilly summer shut‑down (July 5th – July 9th), 1:1 mentoring from an experienced professional in the function.
  • Interns will receive a competitive salary and free parking at their work site, as well as access to Lilly’s LIFE fitness center, bike garage, and many other discounts.
  • The anticipated wage for this position is $65,600 (Bachelors) – $85,000 (Masters) annually.
  • Full‑time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
  • In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company‑sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well‑being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).
