You will plan and teach K–8 technology courses, develop a sequential curriculum, manage the computer lab, and collaborate with staff to update curriculum as technology evolves.

Qualifications

Description

St. Peter Catholic School, in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Technology Instructor. The ideal candidate provides engaging, age-appropriate technology instruction that develops students' digital literacy, problem-solving, creativity, computational thinking, and responsible use of technology. This position is part-time, based on a 25-hour workweek, and reports to the principal.

Essential Duties

• Plan and teach technology classes for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
• Develop and maintain a sequential K-8 technology curriculum with clearly defined skills and learning outcomes for each grade level.
• Provide age-appropriate instruction in keyboarding, computer skills, file management, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, digital research, multimedia, coding, and other technology applications.
• Develop hands-on projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Establish grade-level technology competencies and benchmarks.
• Evaluate and update curriculum as technology and educational needs evolve. Plan and teach technology classes for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
• Instruct students in the use of computer hardware and periphery
• Instruct students in the use of computer software, including word processors, spreadsheets, etc.
• Responsible for computer lab schedule
• Responsible for maintenance supervision of technology hardware
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

• Must have applicable knowledge in Information Technology
• Strong instructional skills and familiarity with current best practices in education
• Ability to manage a classroom effectively and create a positive learning environment
• Proficient in communication, collaboration, and use of technology in the classroom
• Must be able to lift up 25 pounds unaided

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field is preferred
• Complete and maintain diocesan safe environment expectations
