Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an entry-level engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team and support the design of telecommunications systems for building construction. You will work under a project leader and licensed engineer on projects across educational, healthcare, sports, corporate commercial and science facilities.

You'll gain exposure to preparation of construction documents, coding requirements, and coordination with engineering disciplines while developing skills in Revit/Navisworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering by hire date, ABET-accredited preferred.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • Related internship work experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Experience in engineering design software (Revit/Navisworks or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the preparation of construction documents and basic specifications of telecommunications systems for building construction.
  • Under direct supervision, may design telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients, per applicable codes.
  • Develop ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems with oversight.
  • Under supervision learn applicable codes for telecommunication design.
  • Recommend improvements with reference standards to improve quality and streamline production.
  • Assist in review/markup of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review change orders in construction documents.
  • Assist in site visits to verify conditions and observe progress; site visits may require walking the site.
  • May perform other duties as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Participates in the preparation of construction documents and basic specifications of telecommunications systems for building construction.
  • Under direct supervision, may design telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients, per applicable codes.
  • Develop ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts with engineering oversight.
  • Under supervision develop knowledge of applicable codes for the application of telecommunication design.
  • Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
  • Assists in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assists in gathering information to respond to RFI's and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Assists in visiting job site to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
  • May perform other duties as required.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering required by hire date. Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • Related student internship work experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, Navisworks or similar applications) preferred.
