Job summary

HDR is seeking a Technology Designer II to design integrated low voltage systems and support building engineering projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. You’ll calculate loads, determine UPS requirements, and prepare single-line diagrams and construction documents.

You will work with Project Managers and owners, conduct QA/QC, write specifications, and assist other designers. A Bachelor’s in EE and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience in low-voltage system design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Design integrated low voltage systems.
• Calculate electrical power loads, determine UPS requirements and design of system-related single line diagrams.
• Complete set of construction documents.
• Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables.
• Independently perform low voltage technology system/electrical engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected.
• Write specifications covering all low voltage technology system matters, perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team.
• Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of the low voltage technology design process.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) certification
• Familiarity with MS Project, MS Visio, Autodesk
• Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Mid-Atlantic (VA/MD/DC) Area
