Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Technology Designer in Dallas to lead low-voltage system design and develop construction documents for critical infrastructure projects. You will evaluate technology solutions and apply best practices across structured cabling, fiber, and related LV systems.

Work with nurse call, patient EETV, physiological monitoring, EMS radio, and distributed antenna systems, ensuring high performance and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years in low-voltage system design.
  • RCDD certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with MS Project, MS Visio, Autodesk, SpecsIntact.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and apply state-of-the-art low voltage technology systems and design modifications.
  • Design and specify LV systems including structured cabling, outside plant, and fiber optics.
  • Understand medical tech systems design (nurse call, patient EETV, monitoring, EMS radios, DAS).
  • Prepare complete construction documents for projects.
  • Independently perform LV tech/engineering tasks with general PM guidance.
  • Develop procedures, write specifications, and coordinate with owners as part of the project team.
  • Assist other Designers and Technicians and conduct QA/QC as needed.
  • Support other duties across low voltage design phases.

In the role of Senior Technology Designer, we'll count on you to:

  • Evaluate, select and apply state-of-the-art low voltage technology system, techniques, procedures, design and modifications
  • Design and specify low voltage technology systems including but not limited to technology systems with structured cabling, outside plant and fiber optic systems
  • Understand medical technology systems design such as nurse call, patient EETV, physiological monitoring, EMS radio and distributed antenna systems
  • Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents
  • Recognize that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables
  • Independently perform low voltage technology/electrical engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected
  • Select and recommend procedures, security devices and equipment, write specifications covering all low voltage technology system matters, perform reviews, and work directly with owners as a part of project team
  • Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of low voltage technology design process
  • Conduct QA/QC on work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in low-voltage system design
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliarity with MS Project, MS Visio, Autodesk, SpecsIntact
