Job summary

American Electric Power (On-Site) is seeking a Delivery Lead to shape enterprise technology delivery. This role transcends traditional project management, defining delivery practices, driving adoption, and establishing consistent measurement of execution performance across the Technology organization.

You will partner with Technology leadership to embed standard methodologies, governance, and performance tracking frameworks, improving transparency, predictability, and portfolio decision-making

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer science, or related technical field is required.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

  • Define & Standardize Delivery Practices across the enterprise, including SDLC, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive Adoption Across Technology Teams by embedding standardized practices into delivery execution.
  • Measure & Track Delivery Performance with enterprise KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
  • Enable Portfolio Transparency & Decision-Making with consistent status reporting and insights for prioritization.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement by assessing delivery maturity and implementing scalable improvements.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for shaping how technology delivery is carried out across the enterprise. This role goes beyond traditional project management—focusing on defining delivery practices, driving adoption, and establishing consistent measurement of execution performance across the Technology organization.

You will partner with Technology leadership to improve delivery discipline, transparency, and predictability by embedding standard methodologies, governance, and performance tracking frameworks across teams.

Job Description
What you’ll do:
Define & Standardize Delivery Practices
  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards for project delivery, SDLC, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Develop playbooks, templates, and toolkits to enable consistent execution across teams
  • Define structured approaches for planning, milestone management, and risk control
Drive Adoption Across Technology Teams
  • Lead efforts to embed standardized practices into day-to-day delivery execution
  • Coach project managers and delivery teams on best practices and disciplined execution
  • Partner with leaders to reinforce accountability and operating rhythm alignment
Measure & Track Delivery Performance
  • Define and implement enterprise delivery KPIs (schedule adherence, milestone performance, risk trends, dependency health)
  • Ensure consistent tracking of progress against baseline plans across all initiatives
  • Enable portfolio-level visibility through standard dashboards and reporting frameworks
  • Identify systemic delivery risks and performance gaps using aggregated data
Enable Portfolio Transparency & Decision-Making
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality reporting on execution status, risks, and trends
  • Support leadership with actionable insights to inform prioritization, planning, and resource allocation
Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Assess delivery maturity across teams and implement improvements to increase predictability and efficiency
  • Leverage performance data to identify opportunities to enhance execution outcomes at scale
What we’re looking for:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer science, or related technical field is required.
Experience:
  • 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in project/program management, including complex technology initiatives
  • Proven experience defining or scaling delivery methodologies, PMO standards, or SDLC practices
  • Strong experience establishing metrics, dashboards, and performance tracking frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across a matrixed organization
  • Experience in Technology PMO, Portfolio Management, or transformation environments
  • Expertise in agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Compensation Range:

$116,255.00 - $151,132.50

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
