Job summary

Comau is seeking a Technology Engineer to lead the initial setup of multiple process technologies, emphasizing PLC programming and robotic vision automation. You will coordinate with the Comau project team and customer teams, traveling as needed to现场 deployments and commissioning efforts.

The role requires 3–5 years in industrial automation commissioning, with Rockwell PLC, Fanuc robotics, and vision systems experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or certification in engineering or tech.
• 3–5 years of automation/commissioning experience with PLC, Vision and robot systems.
• Working knowledge of Rockwell PLC, Fanuc robotics and vision systems.
• Willingness to travel domestically 60–80% outside Detroit area.

Responsibilities

• Validate innovative solutions and ensure they meet project specs.
• Program and tune PLCs and robots to achieve target product quality.
• Direct integration and installation of Comau systems on customer sites.
• Act as technical interface to customers and provide training.
• Maintain strong customer relationships with fast, effective feedback.
• Support handover with Engineering and identify new project risks.
• Focus on time and cost management throughout deployments.
• Configure, start up, and debug networks, I/O and communications.
• Configure auxiliary equipment as required for the system.
• Validate and debug safety features, where applicable.
• Ensure full system functionality within cycle times and quality targets.
• Create documentation in line with customer commissioning standards.

Job description

The Technology Engineer will be responsible for initial setup of multiple process technologies with a strong background PLC programming and Robotic vision automation applications. Will work in full cooperation with Comau project Team (including team members from Engineering, Manufacturing and Commissioning & Site) and Customer project team representatives. Technology Engineers will travel when necessary, as a member of the Commissioning & Site team.

In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities:

• Validation of innovative solutions,
• PLC and Robot Programming and tuning the technology parameters in order to get the requested product quality,
• Direct the integration and installation of Comau Systems on Customer site; cooperating with team to fix problems arisen on site,
• Act as technical interface to customer,
• Provide the customers trainings to provide the information for a correct maintenance,
• Maintain good relationships with customers through quick effective feedback,
• Be involved in Handover phase with Engineering and collaborate to Identify new project risks
• Focused on Time and Cost Management and
• Configure, start-up and debug systems Networks, I/O and Communication.
• Configure the auxiliary equipment
• Validation and debug of Safety features (if applicable)
• Guarantee whole system functionalities respecting cycle-time and product quality
• Create documentation compliant with customer commissioning standard

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree or Certification in Engineering or Technology (Electrical Controls, Automation, Mechatronic or Robotics)
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of manufacturing industrial automation system experience in commissioning automation with PLC, Vision and Robot Automation process technologies.
• A working knowledge in programming and commissioning with Rockwell PLC, Fanuc robot and Vision systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically (60% - 80%) outside of metro Detroit area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (Electrical Controls, Automation, Mechatronic or Robotics)
• Expertise in Rockwell PLC Controller, Fanuc R-2000iD/165F R-2000iD/165 or R-2000iD/165F, and Vision systems (preferably Ensenso).
• Experience with Logistics or Warehouse systems a plus.
