Overview

Subject Matter Expert (SME-III) - Technology & Capabilities (TC)

Pentagon-Clearance Required: TS/SCI

Astrion is seeking a highly experienced Technology & Capabilities Subject Matter Expert (SME-III) to support forward-leaning efforts in integrating cutting-edge technologies into next-generation warfighting capabilities. This role requires deep technical expertise, visionary thinking, and hands-on experience with both current and emerging Department of Defense (DoD) systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance on the application of advanced technologies to develop innovative operational capabilities across all warfighting domains.

  • Evaluate and advise on the capabilities, limitations, upgrade potential, and concepts of operation for current and future DoD weapon systems.

  • Deliver insights on the integration and performance of diverse technologies across a broad spectrum of mission sets and domains.

Areas of Expertise May Include:

  • Domains: Land, sea, air, space, and cyber operations

  • Weapons Systems: Offensive, defensive, kinetic, and directed energy systems

  • Sensors & Networks: ISR, fire control, targeting, communications, and cyberwarfare systems

  • Emerging Tech: Electromagnetic spectrum operations (including EW and 5G), autonomy, artificial intelligence

  • Command & Control: Automation, battle management, and decision support technologies

  • Fires & Defense: Close air support, long-range fires, integrated air and missile defense

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (Ph.D. strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in assessing, integrating, and operationalizing advanced technologies

  • TS/SCI clearance required
