Job description

Are you an experienced Clinical Lab Professional? Are you looking to embark on a new challenge in your career, or start your career in Clinical Lab Science? If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Technologist Trainee in Toxicology in Houston, TX. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: “Improving Health, Improving Lives”.

Work Schedule:

  • Scheduled days: Tuesday – Saturday
  • Scheduled Hours 5:00pm – 01:30am, some overtime required

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform GC/MS and LC/MS operation, maintenance, confirmation batch loading and unloading in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance.
  • Review and interpret confirmatory GC/MS and LC/MS chromatographic data and all associated quality control, calibration and instrument data.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory or instrument supplies and reagents. Notify appropriate personnel or supervisor of any shortages.
  • Preparation of reagents and mixtures essential to MS department.
  • Follow proper chemical waste disposal procedures, and handling of chemicals according to the safety manual and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) protocols.
  • Understand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentiality.
  • Follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency. Verify chain of custody and specimens received.
  • Perform and record instrument and equipment maintenance and function checks.
  • Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures and protocols as directed.
  • Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
