Job summary

Baptist in Jackson, MS is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team under AST guidelines. You will prepare the sterile field, arrange instruments, aid in exposure and homeostasis, and pass items as needed to help the surgeon achieve safe outcomes.

• Hold current national certification through appropriate accreditation body as required by state where services are rendered. BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
• 20 Hours of continuing education annually as required to maintain certification based on state laws

Job Summary

Functions under the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) guidelines for performance. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Assists surgical team during operation/procedure by arranging, inventorying and maintaining sterile set up for operation, and passes items as needed. Assists in preparation of surgical suite, moving patients, and in cleaning. Provides aid in exposure, homeostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out safe operation with optimal results for the patient within AST standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
