Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and report laboratory procedures ensuring accurate patient results. You will work assigned shifts with potential overtime and callbacks, and contribute to quality patient care.

The role emphasizes specimen handling, quality control, instrument maintenance, and ongoing learning to support high standards in the clinical laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) from an accredited program.
• National certification in concordance with current Federal and/or State Regulations.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• Clinical Laboratory Experience

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical errors.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Supports lifelong learning; completes assigned goals; provides instruction for personnel and students as required.
