Job summary

Labcorp in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Technologist Trainee to join our clinical laboratory team. You will train across routine and advanced procedures, monitor instrumentation, and support testing to deliver accurate patient results.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical/Biological Science or Medical Technology and includes a 8:00-4:30 schedule with overtime as needed; prior Labcorp experience and certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper function.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee join our team in Phoenix, AZ.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Overtime required as needed.

Training Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 - 4:30 pm.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
