Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a CT Radiologic Technologist to perform routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis in a fast-paced radiology department.

Responsibilities include evaluating requisitions, following ALARA, ensuring patient identification, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and department policies. The role emphasizes patient and family relations, safety, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree, Allied Health. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 1 year of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • RT/CT registered by the ARRT; must maintain ARRT certification.
  • BLS certification.

  • Performs routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis.
  • Reviews requisitions for CT imaging procedures and determines appropriateness.
  • Identify patients with two identifiers.
  • Performs basic imaging analysis (e.g. 3D).
  • Selects equipment and factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Assess patients and develop plans for adjusting to their needs.
  • Explain the examination and answer questions about exam and radiation exposure (ALARA).
  • Consistently provides exceptional care and service.
  • Follow QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations.
  • Practice High Reliability Training.

Position Summary

Performs routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis following departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis.
  • Reviews and evaluates requisitions for CT imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for CT examinations.
  • Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
  • Performs basic imaging analysis (e.g. 3D).
  • Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
  • Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.
  • Consistently provides exceptional care and exceptional service.
  • Follows Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations.
  • Practices High Reliability Training.
Patient/Family Relations
  • Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
Equipment
  • Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions.

  • Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section.

  • Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Associates degree, Allied Health. Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience

1 year of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist

Licensure/ Certifications
  • RT/CT registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.
  • BLS certification.
