Job summary

Calais Community Hospital is seeking a patient-focused MRI support assistant to aid the MRI team and maintain smooth departmental workflow. You will screen patients, collect history, greet and assist, and help with positioning and transfer to the MRI table.

The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and reliable task execution, with hospital experience and a Basic Life Support certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy, CNA or medical assistant program desired.
• Excellent customer service skills and hospital experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist MRI Technologist and support daily MRI department operations.
• Screen patients, obtain clinical history, and ensure safety protocols.
• Greet and assist patients with changing for the exam and positioning.
• Transport patients, monitor access to the MRI suite, and discharge patients.
• Stock scan rooms and linen closets; read emails and respond appropriately.

Job description

Under the oversight of the RAD Directorand/or Lead Technologist, assists the MRI Technologist in performing a variety of duties and procedures necessary for the everyday operations of the MRI Department and patient schedule. Follows all MRI Safety Policies. Screens patients, obtains pertinent clinical history before MRI examination and reviews with the MRI Technologist. Greets patients in a prompt and courteous manner. Assists patients with changing for the exam. Assists in sliding patients on and off stretcher to MRI scan table. Assists Technologist with positioning of patients. Assists Technologist in changing MRI coils. Assists patient in and out of the scan room. Transports patient when needed. Conducts proper discharge of patient. Assists in monitoring safe access to the MRI suite. Ensures the stocking of scan rooms and linen closets. Completes special projects as requested by management. Read and responds to all e-mails appropriately.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

• High School diploma
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant or medical assistant program desired.

Minimum Work Experience

• Hospital experience with a general knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
