Job summary

UF Health in Florida seeks a Cardiovascular Technologist II to provide patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab, circulating, scrubbing and recording diagnostic and interventional procedures. The role spans adult interventional, heart failure, and pulmonary services with multi-modality responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy, or ≥5 years Cath Lab experience, plus RCIS/RCES and BLS/ACLS certifications

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy.
• Alternatively, five years of Cath Lab Technologist experience.
• Licenses/certifications: RCIS, RCES, BLS and ACLS; ARRT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist during invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.
• Educate patients about pending procedures and address questions.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures and positioning.
• Complete patient and procedure documentation in EMR within required time frames.
• Operate and stay current with equipment and safety precautions.

Job description

Overview

The Cardiovascular Technologist II provides appropriate patient care in Cardiac Cath Lab.

Circulates, scrubs, and records diagnostic and interventional procedures for adult interventional, heart failure, and pulmonary services.

Operates appropriate medical equipment and software. Interacts professionally with patients and staff.

CardiovascularTechnologist II is a multi-modality position and may be assigned to work in a variety of locations, assist other cardiac procedural modalities.

Responsibilities

Multi-Modality must have the knowledge to make quick and highly technical decisions in order to accommodate the changing work environments.

Must be able to resolve conflict and endure the pressures associated with a changing work environment.

Assists physician as necessary to provide support during invasive as well as non-invasive procedures.

Educates patient regarding pending procedure and answers all questions and concerns to the patient’s satisfaction.

Provides patient assistance for personal care including ambulation, bathing, dietary needs, toileting and transfer.

Ensures patient safety and comfort with regards to table pads and back support in preparation and during procedure.

Accurately completes all patient/procedure paperwork. Completes orders in EMR within the allotted time frame. Utilizes appropriate aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and transfer of infections.

Stays abreast on all equipment functions and associated precautions and hazards of all equipment used.

Perform all other duties as assigned by management within job scope. May be assigned to an alternate clinical area at Leader's discretion.

In lieu of education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Cath Lab Technologist.

Licensing Requirements:

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification
• Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
• BLS AND ACLS
• Prefer American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
