Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team. The role supports routine and complex testing, operates instrumentation, and participates in standard procedures. New grads welcome; full training provided; work schedule Tue–Sat 12:00 PM–8:30 PM.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science or Medical Technology is required; ASCP/AMT certification preferred or will be pursued. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and willingness to work overtime as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper function.
• Prepare, test and evaluate reagents or controls; report accurate results.
• Assist with processing of specimens and maintain a safe work environment.

Position Overview

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee join our team in Houston, TX.

Work Schedule: Tues- Sat. 12:00PM -8:30PM. New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
