Qualifications

Experienced technicians need a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, tools, and OEM/ASE certifications. Master technicians should be capable of diagnostics and repairs across various systems. Entry-level technicians need a driver's license, high school diploma or GED, or be in the process of completing high school, along with reliable transportation.

Technician Levels and Responsibilities
Entry Level Technician/Maintenance Technician
  • Obtain OEM entry/mid-level/maintenance certification
  • Starter toolkit with cart on consignment until tenure is met
  • Work with mentor and independently on maintenance jobs
  • Potential entry into McGovern apprenticeship program
C-Level Technician
  • Work with mentor and independently on A/B level jobs
  • Complete jobs with mentor assistance
  • Engage in OEM training (self-paced and classroom)
  • Possible flat rate pay plan
B-Level Technician
  • Mid-level OEM certification
  • Perform maintenance and light repairs, with occasional heavier work
  • Flat rate pay plan
  • Collaborate with mentor and shop foreman to develop skills
  • Sign-on bonus up to $5,000 may be available
A-Level Technician
  • Handle complex repairs of advanced systems, including steering, suspension, ABS, airbags, sonar/camera, drivability, noise troubleshooting, and fit/finish
  • Work directly with OEM engineers
  • Diagnose electrical issues
  • Rebuild engines/transmissions
  • Flat rate pay plan
  • Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 may be available
A-Level Master/Diesel/Transmission Specialist
  • Expertise in diesel system repairs and transmission rebuilding
  • Flexible pay plans
  • Sign-on bonus up to $25,000 may be available
